Okay so the Knicks went into San Antonio and straight up stole Game 1, winning 105 to 95, which means they grabbed home court right out the gate. Wemby actually had a decent stat line with 26 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks, but he was super inefficient, going just 6 of 21 from the floor and coughing up 6 turnovers. The whole Spurs team shot it bad, only 36 percent overall and a brutal 25.6 percent from three.

Meanwhile Brunson did Brunson things with 30 points, Karl Anthony Towns added a double double with 18 and 12, and Josh Hart was everywhere with 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals despite barely scoring. New York also won the hustle stuff, scoring 19 points off turnovers and outscoring San Antonio in the paint 50 to 42.

So now we flip to Game 2 Friday night, still in San Antonio. Here's the funny part though: even after losing, the Spurs are still the favorite, sitting around 67 percent to win Game 2 per the model, mostly because nobody thinks Wemby and Fox both shoot that poorly again (Fox was a rough 3 of 13).

My read is San Antonio bounces back at home and ties it up. They were getting good looks, they just bricked them, and Wemby getting to the line 13 times tells me he can adjust. But if the Knicks defense keeps forcing those turnovers and Brunson stays hot, New York could go up 2 and 0 and put real pressure on a young Spurs team that has not been here before. I lean Spurs in Game 2, but the Knicks just proved they belong.
